I did some pro bono work for Little Pilgrim's Preschool and After-School Program in East Oakland, and designed their very first website and a new logo. This project was very personal to me, because as a kid, I was a Little Pilgrim. For this project, we focused on the children, and what Pilgrim's does to help them grow and learn. I looked back at what really was shown to me as a child at Pilgrim's, and wrote the copy based on that. Every September is rough at Pilgrim's. It becomes a season of anxiety if enough parents are going to sign their children up for the program. Since the website was launched, this is no longer an issue. It felt so good to help them out.
Little Pilgrim's Logo:
Upon entering the yard at Pilgrim's, you have to literally dodge toddlers learning to ride tricycles. I implemented this image as part of their mark in combination with typography based on a child's handwriting.
Little Pilgrim's Website:
The website focused on the children and the curriculum at the preschool/daycare. The colors are bright, and juvenile. With hand-drawn assets in a chalkboard style to match the look and feel.
